I have a hetero-beige male that I'd like to breed. Experienced breeders, what color do you recommend for the girl? Do any colors look particularly cute with beige?

I'm not breeding for cute-ness alone, it's just a side benefit.

First off...I don't recommend breeding an animal just for fun or for cute babies.

What is this chin's background? Do you even know anything about the lines he came from? If not, it's not a good idea to breed him. You won't have a clear idea of what his coat quality is or past health issues.

If you want to experience a baby and also get another chin I recommend going to an experienced breeder in your area and buying a baby MALE chinchilla to be your guy's forever cagemate.

If you're asking for colors that look "cute" with another color, I doubt you're ready to breed. Before you even think about breeding, you need to read through all the breeding & baby articles here front to back and all over again. Are you prepared to lose your male [if he even is breeding quality] or the female due to breeding complications? It's a reality that happens all too often that not many people think of...along with very expensive vet bills, dead babies, having to hand feed babies around the clock...I could go on and on. Chins are great PETS.

First you need to tell us what are strength and weaknesses of the animal. What are you trying to improve? You will need a female that will compensate for his faults. Has he ever been shown?

Quite frankly, she's going to breed what she wants to her beige male regardless of what any of you say. She doesn't want to breed "competitively" and just for pets. So it's ok! We should breed for mutts, too, while we're at it, according to her, and it's also not backyard breeding!
