HELP! Infection or eye problem?!

My chin Minato woke up with his eye closed today. He scratches it somewhat and it sort of appears to be watery. He keeps the eye closed most of the time but he will open it sometimes. I wouldn’t say it’s glued shut, but he tends to keep it closed for some time. Could it be an infection or has anyone experienced this? Does anybody know any trusting vets in San Diego area?

I don't know any vets, but I would definitely get him seen. Even if it's not infected it could have gotten scratched, getting scratched by hay for example is fairly common.

I made an appointment to two vets, the closest time they had was Monday for the first one and Wednesday for the second. He hasn’t been crying or whining, and he’s been eating good. He still comes out but does sleep a little more. Should I take him to the emergency hospital or wait for the appointment? Many vets told me it wasn’t too much of an emergency.

I think Monday should work unless he gets worse, like his eye gets gooed shut or you see puss or anything coming out.
