Proud chin mama & gramma
Hello! I came across the name of this site on YouTube when I was watching some vids of kits. Someone posted a comment about a vid, and they mentioned Chins&Hedgies so I thought I'd check it out.
I got my little Priscilla Chinchilla 2 years ago (best birthday present I'd ever gotten!). Earlier this year a coworker asked me about chin care because her son wanted a pet, and since she got her Bibi she and I are always swapping stories.
We discovered a chin breeder not far from home (we live in Montreal) and one visit was enough to convince us... we went back again a month later with our babies to find them each a friend!
Priscilla was very finnicky since she'd been accustomed to being alone for so long and was older (she was 2 1/2 at the time and the breeder's available chins were 4-7 months). She didn't want anything to do with the first chin we put her with, I'd never seen her in that defensive posture before and I'd never heard her make those sounds before! But we decided to try her with another just to see... and she was fine. Her new friend was a male, so of course I had to call him Elvis.
Elvis unfortunately passed away in July. I was devastated. He was such a sweetheart. But last week while Priscilla was sitting on my hand, I felt something... The next day I saw her belly move... She's pregnant!!! I remember back when I found the plug in the cage, I counted 111 days just in case this happened and it came to September 1st. So sometime this week I'm gonna be a gramma!!!
I'm kind of hoping the litter is all female, just for simplicity's sake. I won't bother trying to find homes for them, I'll just keep them. And I've already decided the first-born female will be named Ella, after her daddy.
So that's my story! Looking forward to learning everything I can about my little punkin girl and her ****oos! (yes, I'm one of THOSE types of owners... lol)
