Chub chub, your fellow apartment people sond like mine. No one under me. And crazy guy beside me w windows oen in the upper 90s...and I'm also right next to the laundry room= my air runs all day pretty much. It broke in April...which wasn't too big of a deal. The apt ppl were like Why do you have your air on anyway?? Lol good thing I didnnt wait until it was super hot tho!

Anyone ever try one of those remote temp monitors that emails or texts you when the monitor registers above a certain temp? We're thinking about getting one for the chins since it is sooo flippin hot lately.. I'm getting a little paranoid about it.. We can't do a window ac because we're on the second floor. The apt below us is vacant (read "not cooled") and the weirdo on the other side of us barely uses ac (he had his windows open till a couple weeks ago.. We've had the ac running since late April). If, for any reason, the air went out, my apt would turn into an oven VERY quickly.:waiting::temp:

I believe last summer there was a similar post and a member here posted that they had one that emails you. I can't find the thread but if you can do it, I say go for it. Someone is in my house 24/7 so I don't need something like that. I just have a plan in case the power or central air go out for too long.

The only problem I can find with the monitoring is that the computer and the internet would have to be on all day till I get home, so it would be another source of heat inside all day too and added electricity costs.. Not too big of a deal, but something to consider on my end. The service sounds really reasonable from what we have looked at.. I think it was around $50 for the whole setup and a year of monitoring access on the site for it.. I'll try to post the link when I get home.

Might be worth it for the piece of mind, especially since you don't have neighbors who would call you if the power went out or something. I used to worry about it, too, when I had a window unit.

So I finally got the room situated. Mork is in the living room now, and I put heavy blankets up on both doorways. I also took out the window fan that was in the kitchen. I cannot believe how much my common sense was lacking. "Duh, hey guys, why don't my magic air cooler work gooder than it do right now?"
I also picked up 1 digital thermometer/humidity temp thingy, and 3 plain ol mercury or whatever that red stuff is thermometers. they were like a buck each so I got one for above Mork's cage, and one for between Rodya/Sonya and Pico's cages.
There are some pictures attached to show you what the living room looks like now. Please excuse the mess.
The first pic is of the cages, the peace sign beads are in front of my bedroom door. From Left to right you see Mork's cage, Pico's cage (with a blanky so he can sleep), and then Rodya's cage with Sonya's stacked on top.
The second pic is the view from their cages...really I just wanted to show off my Jurassic Park Blanket/door.
Third pic I took standing in front of Pico's cage, you can see Sonya in the foreground, in the background is a fan I recently bought perched on top of our tv so that Sonya has air circulating to her.
4th pic is Rodya (bottom) and Sonya saying 'Oh hai guys'
and the last pic is Pico also saying 'hai'.
Mork was asleep because he can't hear me moving stuff around XD lol. He woke up briefly when his whole house moved..then he was like 'eh screw this i'm going back to bed' hahaha.
