Hi everyone,
Just a thought. We had a power outage last night, which I slept right through. I keep Winston's room pretty warm (the whole house actually), and he was fine in the morning when I checked on him, but I'm curious if anyone has any backup's for this when you don't realize there's a power outage, or I'm not home, etc. My furnace is hooked up to a programmable thermostat, and once it did go off with a power outage (I woke up for that one, and moved Winston near the gas fireplace). Thanks!!

Kendra

You may want to look into a temperature sensor that has an alarm on it if it goes too high or too low. You can often find these that have remote stations so that you can monitor the temperature from another room.

I have a cabin sensor that monitors temperature, power & noise levels in the hedgehog room. If a set parameter is exceeded the cabin sitter starts beeping. If I don't respond to it within a set amount of time it starts calling my cell phone and my husband's. We bought this so that when we are at work we will know if the hedgehogs are too cold or if the power goes out. That way we have time to respond before the quill kids get too cold.
