He's eating a bit more now. I'm going to try and order PANR. His temperament is much better. he doesn't bark or hide in the corner when i try to take him out of the cage... He also has been taking CC easier and easier. Sooo... thank you all! I will keep you guys up to date!

I am also looking for a gram scale. So I can REALLY keep you up to date. : )

Check the kitchen section of Walmart or any other discount store for a scale.

Good on the eating! Sometimes it takes a bit of time to get back into things after meds as well.

Okay, guys. So I am taking him in to the vet's to give them him poop sample so they can make sure his Giardia is gone. I figured I would weigh him when I got there, because I haven't had the chance to go around to stores in this weather for a scale. I have been giving him mostly Critical Care, some Lifeline and a bit of Dyne several times a day, my syringe is in mL, can someone tell me how many CCs I should be feeding him in mL? I feed him several times a day and he takes it easily up to a certain point then he won't eat anymore. It's nearly impossible to FORCE feed him, as he is super small and super duper squirmy!

He loves Tanya's supplement that she sent me. (thanks Tanya) I give him about a 1/2 tsp a day. He was plowing through his food bowl on Monday night but last night he wouldn't touch it. This little guy is so confusing.

When my chin was ill, I syringe fed him 20cc/ml at least 3-4 times a day for sure. Sometimes you might have to make the critical care more like a slurry for them, at least I did.

Okay, I feed him up to 3 times, at minimum 2. He is very, very tiny. I guess he gets full. My syringe is 20 mL. Do you have suggestions to make him eat the last 20 mL?

he is very very very thin, Essentia. He weighed 390 grams when I last took him to the vet :( I have been feeding him Critical Care, about 40-60 cc a day. He since has begun eating his food more, and am taking him to the vet Saturday.

If he is super skinny like that I would try to get as much into him as I could. If you don't already have one, you should buy a scale. They sell them in the kitchen area of walmart. Weigh him often to make sure he isn't losing any more. As long as he is gaining, or staying the same (in your case I would try for gaining since he is so skinny), he is getting enough food.

I will, the only issue is I don't have my car at school with me and there isn't one of those anywhere nearby. There is Bed Bath and Beyond it is just kinda far. I will convince somebody to drive me out there. But I will be sure to let you all know what Furby's weight is Saturday morning when I take him in.

I bought a scale today, after I took Furby to the vet to give them another poop sample. Unfortunately, he lost even more weight and now weighs 355 grams. I am so scared, I don't know what to do. He is still super jumpy and happy, how do I get him to eat? I have tried supplements (which he eats), the foraging idea, where you put little piles of things for him to find, he has a hay buffet full of alfalfa... He still eats oats and rose hips and stuff out of my hand when i give him treats and such. I don't know whaaat to do! gah!

Is he eating pellets at all?
Did you start changing them yet?

I ordered PANR in the mail, it hasn't come yet. In the mean time I bought a small bag of chinchilla pellets at a pet store that was... reasonably healthy, anyway (just experimental, you know?) and put a few in his bowl. So far, he hasn't touched it. But he did eat the tiny pile of rolled oats and rose hips that I put next to his house. I have a vet appointment again on Tuesday, the vet called me to tell me that she wants to see him, as today's appointment was only to weigh him.

Do you know the brand of pellets you bought?

Has he been Xrayed at all?

After reading all of this, I was thinking the same, has he been x rayed? I would think with all the CC you have been giving him etc he should at least be maintaining his weight.

Poor guy! I really hope they can figure this out for you. If it were me at this point I may want an x ray but I am not sure if he can handle being sedated for one, although my chin didnt need sedation when she was x rayed..... Hugs hunny! Hang in there!

I'll ask the vet to x-ray him when I take him in Tuesday. I was wondering the same thing. I've also been giving him a small amount of Dyne and Lifeline, it doesn't make sense that he would LOSE weight so drastically. I did manage to get 60 CCs in yesterday through about 4 feedings. Hopefully that gets easier. I am optimistic! If it weren't for his weight he wouldn't seem sick!

Okay, X-Rays tomorrow, he actually gained weight since my last update on the 23rd at 355 grams. He now weighs 368. I know it's still nothing, but at least he didn't lose more!
