Does anyone know where you can get hanger bolts in bulk. I've tried lowes and home depot. They only have them in a package. 4 to a package for $0.98. That seems like a lot.

Do you reuse your bolts after the chin has their fun with it? I am having a hard time getting 1 out. I can't imagine 60.

I bet you could find them online. Sometimes in the hardware section of the home improvement stores if the items are in a bin vs a package you can buy an unopened case I believe.

Found boxes of 100 at HD, theywere in a drawer. In the past I ordered through Amazon, I believe it was the Nut Company. I have pretty much stopped using hanger bolts and have switched to #8-1 1/2 lathe screws with 3/16 fender washers.

If you are interested I sell 1/4 by 1.5 or 2.0 in length. Just pm me for info.
Thanks,
Randy

Jessica - I get 100 of the 5/16" x 3" at Fastenal for $28 including shipping. You can order them online, or you can pick them up in the store. I don't use the 1/4" because they don't hold up my ledges as well since they're so thick. If you make your ledges thick enough, you won't have to make new ones. I've been using my ledges for almost 2 years and theres barely any damage. I have re-used bolts before though when my gliders decide to pee on all of their ledges and I just throw the wood away. You just take two nuts and put them on the bolt, tighten them together, and then just reverse the direction that you would turn the bolts to loosen them. You might have to tell hubby to do it - you're so tiny!

I also quit using hanger bolts quite some time ago. Too much work to pull them back out and they stick out and stab you.

I use 3/4" washers and wood screws. Very easy to reuse and much cheaper in bulk.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I think I am going to switch to screws and washers. I've got tons of bolts here so I think I will use them up and go to screws.
