Hand biting

I've noticed that my chinchilla has been biting the bottom of his hand. Does this mean anything?

Does his paw look red or inflamed? Does he look like he's swiping his nose or just nibbling on his paw?

It doesn't look red or inflamed but he's been nibbling on it and sometimes he keeps it tucked into his body and doesn't want to put it down.
