Hi! I had my first experience of hair ring-removal! I didn't know what it was, when I saw hairs sticking out of Adonis' pee, and pulled it. Then, OMG! I found out how long his penis actually was. Then, I found a ring around it. I used a dull pair of scissors, and did really midget cuts, so that I wouldn't accidentally harm him. I am happy that it went really smoothly. It stunk though, as you may know...

I would not use scissors. That is an accident just waiting to happen, especially how squirmy they can get when doing hair ring checks. The thought of it just scares me. For future reference, removing the hair ring with your fingers is much safer. I lubricate it with a dab of KY jelly and gently work the hair ring off.

You really should be checking more often - once every month or so is usually good. If it's to the point of hair sticking out, then it's probably been there quite a while. If the ring gets bad enough, they can end up with infections and urinary issues - not fun!

What age do you start checking at? Gus is almost 7 months.

yes their penis is surprisinly long! I was shocked the first time I saw gizmos lol

omg i cringed when i saw the word "scissors". i agree with stace, dont use those again. luckily your encounter went smoothly but you cant think it'll be like that all the time. there are days when gizmo lets me lounge around and hold him, and then days where he fur slips the minute i pick him up...sharp objects and chins is a no!

i had my roommate hold him when i did the first hair ring check. i did it without KY which didnt seem like fun for either of us but it'll def be more safe and effective that scissors.

and yes...its long. i saw gizmo grooming himself the second day i had him (mind you, i did not know what a hair ring was at that point). and omg i freaked out. theyre well endowed....

:wink2::)Thanks for all your replies!!!! Adonis is about 10 month old. I will check all my boys often. I had a look at their penises, but they looked flat from outside and no bumps. But, I will "peel" them with use of KY, and check if there are minor rings around. Thanks again! I will use my fingers for the next time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
