I have one chin who turned 2 years old in Febuary and he has a hair ring every week.I have to check him and remove a full ring every Friday or he'll start to hang out.Has any one else had a chin like this?Did they calm down later on?

Just because he has a hair ring it is not becaue of him "grooming himself". Some chins do a better job of removing the hair rings, others need help. I don't think being calm has anything to do with it.

I'm sorry I should have given more details. His ring is more fleece than hair. It's the same color as his pillows. He does alot of humping!I have to change his pillow alot because he leaves behind the evidence .
I guess between that and him not being able to clean himself well .
Friday hair ring checks will be around for awhile

LOL....it sounds like he loooooooooves his cuddle buddy!~

You know, I think my boy has been doing that too! i thought is was pee at first. but last night I noticed it was kinda stiff like startch, it just never occured to me! and at the vet last week she found a hair ring and he had never had one before. I have recently switched to fleece, so maybe that is what is happening.
Is that even possible?

Yes, I noticed much more, and more serious hair rings when I used fleece liners. Even with a swollen penis, it was better to have him on shavings, the fleece just collects hair and some fleece particles must get stuck in there too. I would use a different bedding if it keeps being such a problem.

Big Ha Ha's!!! Really made me laugh this thread!! Love it--funny! We just did the hair
ring checks and did find a small hair clump & ring on one of them. He was happy as...
....that we got it off! Oh My-you're doing this every week. Bummer! Well-i'd be getting
rid of the fleece, could not do that every week. I use a small/med stuffed animal from
petstore for buddy. It's the stuffed hedgehog, works great for one of my chins that's
a buzy boy!hehe
