Hi everybody!

Have myself a little chinnie that seems to have an eye related issue.

Initially the fur around the front of their left eye was a little matted, and on Friday there seemed to be a little bit of dust collected around the front of his eye. Thought nothing major of it....

Went in to feed them yesterday and the fur from the front of his eye had gone completely and left a bare patch in front of his eye.... (looks like a really cute version of the terminator).

They've been through the recent trauma of a house move, and I will disinfect the cage and keep him out of the sandbath and away from our other little chin.

Done a little bit of research online and it seems that he may have some kind of eye infection causing this problem.

Was just wondering of the best way to treat his eye with regards to solutions/ drops to use for him or whether I should just take him to the vets straight off (my first option really)

Any help would be much appreciated!

P.S based in the UK if that makes any difference.

Thanks

Sounds like an infection for sure. I would take him to the vet so the vet can see if the cornea is scratched or not. The medication depends on if there is a scratch present. Should you home treat and there is a scratch, the medication can cause an ulcer to form and not heal correctly. Off to the vet :)

Avoid dust baths until the eye is healed.
