i've had my babies, sassy and cheezit, since last october.

they're sisters and live together.

however, it's like they STILL aren't used to me. i play with them as much as my hectic schedule allows. but shouldn't they be used to me by now?

they hardly let me pick them up, even when i offer treats.

help? :(

Some hedgehogs want nothing to do with being handled. It's just personality. I've had ones that are very social and friendly and will run all over me as long as I don't touch them.

I too have a little one that doesnt like to be touch handled or anything. He will actually get stress poops if I handle him for more than a few minutes at a time.

but the thing is, they ADORE my mom. she can pick them up and play with them without a problem. it's just me they don't like. :(

It may not be you. It may be a soap, shampoo, deodorant or some other smell on you they don't like or that they especially like on you mom.

Sometimes hedgies do pick who they like. My Snow (RIP) started out as my daughters but Snow bit her to the point of drawing blood every time she touched her.

You may also want to look at how you are spending time with them. If it is chaotic, at random times, noisy, etc, during play time, you may have hedgehogs that are less happy about being out.

If you don't already, get them on a schedule. Take them out of their cage at the same time each day. They will learn what to expect from you and when.

Sometimes adding a t-shirt you have worn all day in the cage with them to sleep on helps. It gets them used to your sent. It has always worked for me in the past. I hope this helps.
