Grad announcements?

Ok, so I got my graduation announcements today and was just wondering if typical grad announcements sound like invites?

Mine says something like "The class of 2009 will have their graduation ceremony on this day of ______ at ____ am on the Heritage High School football field. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held inside the gym" (more formally than that... but that's the basic meaning).

Is that what the announcement is supposed to sound like? I know some of my family will assume they are invited if they receive an announcement that is worded like that...

That doesn't sound like an announcement, that sounds like an invite. My high school had two different cards/letters you could send since there were only 6 people you could invite.

I'd ask the school if they have other versions. If they don't, I would recommend that you pick up some grad. announcements from Target or some other place just to let everyone you wanted to know, that you are graduating soon. If I got that announcement, I'd assume I was invited.

It does sound like an invite to me.

I was suppose to get mine today but didn't due to school being cancelled. might get them tomorrow. if I do I'll post what mine says.
