So far in two days ( NOT consecutive lol ) I did about 20 dozen one day and yesterday my friend came over and we did about another 20 dozen. Baking is only expensive if you make it that way. We buy in bulk, we have our own chickens ( thus our own eggs, lol ), and don't make anything overly fancy that no one is going to care about it over plain ol' sugar cookies.

We've all known Peggy's off her rocker, this should not surprise us at all. But... now I'm hungry for sausage...

Oh, that's just the baking. Then there's ham, mashed taters and gravy, sweet potato casserole, corn on the cob, mac 'n cheese, ranch cheese ball and crackers.

Thankfully, my mom has a big freezer, so I can load up the cookies and have them later!

ok tiffany.....that was hilarious!

peggy.....OMG!! pumpkin log sounds yummy, what is that??

as for me, i am not much of a baker, so i doubt there will be much of that in the next few days, but I am making lasagna to bring to my mom's on xmas eve and i am making ham and some kind of egg casserole for xmas brunch and then i have to make some type of green been dish for xmas dinner. each meal has to be eaten in a different location. gotta love divorce! my family, fiance's family, my son, my stepsons, in laws, outlaws, you name it!!

Oooo homemade lasagna is my favorite!

how many people were all those cookies made for? That woman is sitting there dipping them in chocolate! I just gained 5 lbs by looking at the cookie pictures.

All the people in the picture plus another 10 or so. Grandma (lady dipping) also uses them as bribes to get work done around the house. :D

Yes, we go through 12-15 pounds of melted chocolate and it is very messy. Heh.

You know, I absolutely love almond roca but have never tried to make it - since it isn't my kitchen, I may try this year. Hmm... maybe taffy too! mUAHAHAH!

All I'm gonna say is that if any of you find me in this thread from this point forward - throw something really hard cuz I need NOT be in here gettin' ideas for MORE stuff to eat! Peg's already done a darn fine job of makin' me hungry lately over yahoo...gonna have to put a stop to that too! hehe

I feel the same way, Amanda.

Christmas is always a week-long celebration in this family it seems. We celebrate mostly on the 24th though as we follow European tradition.

On the 24th my Oma/Mom make: (Note: Our suppers also follow European tradition, so we eat at 3pm)
Schnitzel (w/ fish)
Cucumber Salad
Bean Salad
Potato Salad
Duck
These German cookies, no idea how to spell it but they are crescent shaped and full of icing sugar.

25th:
Breakfast - bacon, eggs, hashbrowns
Supper:
Turkey
Mashed Potatoes
Gravy
Left over Salads (potato, bean, cucumber)

26th:
Schnitzel (w/ beef)
Garlic Potatoes
Left over Salads

27th: (grandmas...)
Turkey
Ribs
Mashed Potatoes
Gravy

28th: (Isabellas birthday)
Left over everything + cake!

And for these occasions, minus my grandmas, there is my Oma, Opa, Dad, Mom, 2 brothers, sister, Aunt, Uncle, 2 cousins, my fiance and myself (13).

Sasha - PFFERNEUSE COOKIES, the spice cookies? I haven't had a decent one of those in years and years and years. My Opa was a pastry chef...he made the best anything baked.

I'm surprised you don't have stollen...well, those are a pain the butt to make, so I'm not THAT surprised. This year I didn't make any...and I am sort of kicking myself for it. :(

I miss German Christmases. :(

Cake cookies, huh. That sounds good, Peggy. Have you heard of cake balls? I think I'll try my hand at those.
And leftovers are welcome at my house, too. I was out voted by mom and sisters and now they're doing Mexican food on Christmas. I LOVE me some Mexican food...but not on Christmas!

hahaha Kayla and I had Japanese food on cinco de mayo - there were not many people in the restaurant lol.

I think I am going to make some cracker candy and maybe some heath cookies or buckeyes. My mom is bringing chocolate cake so we will have plenty.

I should melt some more chocolate - we had a tacky sweater christmas party last sunday and I cut strawberries and made oreo covered marshmellows to dip in chocolate fondue. They are HEAVEN
