I am in an industrial park and I just found a litter of kittens. We think the mom was hit by a car. They appear very hungry. I left a bowl of water. The only food I had today was some bread and one of the guys had a cheesesteak so i put about a tablespoon of the chopped up meat in a box with the bread. they are eating it but when i get close they run. one of the guys at work has cat food that he will bring in tomorrow
there are about 5 of them.
We want to try and bring them to a no kill shelter before they are run over in our very busy parking lot, but when i get close they run into the spaces of the fence of the yard they were probably born in.
How can we trap them and how do we know if we got all of them? I really dont them to go the whole weekend without food and the risk of the busy road where we think their mom was killed.

A feed store will have live traps you can buy, or some rescues will let you rent one from them.

Google search for "TNR" trap, neuter, release programs in your area. Someone there will probably be able to talk you through what needs to be done to catch feral/semiferal kittens.

In the mean time, keep small amounts of food out while humans are around to keep them in the area, but don't leave any at night. It'll draw raccoons, etc. and make sure there's plenty of clean fresh water available. Also, if you can, try to mark the area to slow people down as they drive.

Good luck.

we just caught 2 of them and the guy i work with is taking them home because his aunt works at a shelter. i had a 3rd one but it jumped out of my hands and now they will not come out.
the good thing is we caught the runt. we think they are 7 - 8 weeks. here is a pic from my cell phone.

Keep trying. Get that live trap and bait it with food. As mentioned, the local shelters should have them, and you may be able to just leave a deposit on one.

If all else fails, get a fishing net. When they come out to eat, use that baby to catch and grab them. They will be upset at first, but better upset than dead.

thanks. i'm not in this office tomorrow, but there is another woman in the office next door and she has 2 cats so she is going to try & catch them tomorow. i hope they can get them before the weekend.

I know not everyone will want to do this but I have two sizes of live traps. They aren't really expensive and when you want one, well, then you have one. A raccoon sized one is about $30.00 and a smaller one for kittens would cost about $15.00-$20.00. Once you buy it then it lasts forever, of course. When my kids were younger I used to set the traps just to see what we would catch. Then we'd look at it in the morning, sometimes a raccoon, sometimes a 'possum, sometimes one of our own cats, then let it go. Until we caught a skunk...............that's another whole story in itself. And yes, we set that skunk free with some dire consequences to me while my son video'd it. :hilarious: I thought I was going to :vomit:, the smell was so bad. We promptly burned the blanket I threw over the trap to release the skunk.

Anyway, good luck with these kittens. I hope you are able to catch them all.

We got one more today. We think there are 2 more, but can only see one. We almost got that one but it is very scared. I feel bad because we took its sibling away and now he is all alone. :(
here is her (or his) picture:

OMG, that first picture you posted looks just like one of my ragdoll mixes when he was a kitten. Over the years he has developed his spots and stripes and now looks like a blue eyed gray tabby. Those kitten are cute and they look young enough to warm up to people pretty quick :)
