Does anyone know if you can take apart a FN 141 and add it to an FN 142 like you would a 143 add-on unit (minus the bottom of the cage and the stand obviously). I want to make sure the pieces all come apart and reassemble properly without losing any structural integrity. Just thinking down the road and curious...

The 141 would not have the "cut away" section for the floor grid, so it wouldn't be accessible to the other parts of the cage. It's meant to stand alone, or have the 143 added on. The 143 is the "add on" and has the cut away, but CAN'T be used alone, for that reason.
The 142 is just really a 141 with a 143 on top.

Hope that actually makes sense. ;)

Yeah, that totally makes sense. I wasn't figuring that the 141 sitting on the top would be accessible to the middle section so sorry that wasn't clear. I just wanted to know if structurally that could happen.

I'm assuming if it is possible then the option would be to have the 142 portion (the bottom two sections in the scenario) to be able to either be open to each other OR divided into two cages. Then have the 141 section (the top most section in the scenario) be shut off from the middle section.

And again, this isn't anything I'm planning to go out and do any time soon. It's just that it's looking like I'm going to have 3 chins and 2 FNs (a 141 and a 142) and I'm just curious to see if after quarantine of the soon to be new chin and intros it would ever be possible to combine the 142 and 141. If none of the chins get along (the two I currently have do not and I am not going to intro them again) then it would just be like 3 separate cages stacked up or if 2 of them do then I thought maybe they could share the open access 142 part and then the other chin could have the 141 that would be stacked on top.

I don't even know if I would want the cages arranged vertically like that, I'm just thinking through options and gauging feasibility. I know some people have a 142 with a 143 on top so it just got me thinking...

Does anyone see a reason why you couldn't add a 141 to a 142 as described?

If you use the FN 141 like the add on and want a cut away shelf, you could always take the middle shelf out of the FN 142 and use that as your cut away shelf. You would have to put several shelved into the 142, but it looks pretty cool!!! I bought the add on, but we have to keep one of our girls separated, so we use the solid tray.
