After looking through the FN cage thread, I saw a few people had made homemad splash guards/flooring. Can anyone tell me what they use or how they did it? I wanted to tile the first floor (cooling effect). I feel bad for not keeping Midgy's cage "plain" so time to change that.

I also saw in the DYI that it showed sewing two peices of fleece together and leveing the middle section "loose" Is there a reason for this?

I perfer to make what I can instead of buying it as I have full work shop (10year mechanic)

I once received a FN cage with homemade guards. The owner had purchased fiberglass, cut it to height/length they wanted and then drilled holes across it. They fastened it to the cage with wingnuts, washers and bolts. It was very nicely done and worked perfectly on the outside of the cage.

As for fleece, not sure what you're saying. Most liners are sewed together on the outer edge. If there is a middle layer of fabric it is generally fixed to the outer layers so that it doesn't ball up when in the wash.

On the DIY the they showed a middle layer that was not sewed to the 1st and 3rd layer. Just curious why this was. So I assume it was there so it wouldn't ball up there.

I thought it was bad to have exposed bolts to where chins could chew on them? In this case the head of the bolt. I guess it may be ok if you used a button style or countersunk.
