Ever since someone here posted a thread about a sale petsmart was having on FN 182 cages online a couple months back, i had been watching the item a little more closely. At the time it was marked down a LOT. I remembered them being 220-250 around here, then suddenly they were going for 120~ at petsmart on an online only sale.

Now the price is cut down to 105, but is not sold online at all. It says only in-store. But the last several times ive been in there i have not seen any FN 182 at all. At best there might have been a CN cage, but that was it.

I was looking a night or two ago at online sites listed to have the cage. There were some that showed to have them but many did not. Others were listed as out of stock. And some, like petsmart, listed as in store only - with none in store.

Seems like they might be burning off there current inventory of the model 182. I would guess to release a new version. Probably a CN.

Anyone else notice this?

Edit: I also noticed that on all the pics on the sites, i could never get a clear enough shot to read the model number on the sticker on the door.

When I called a few months back about a FN they told me they were only that low of a price because there was discoloration on the bars (Petsmart is where I called). I agree with you though, I'm not quite convinced it's only because of discolored bars. When I called, almost none of the stores had a FN but, the one that did it was original price ($250).

I'm not sure what is going on. It seems a little strange though.

I noticed Petsmart.ca and the store nearest me stopped selling the FN about a year ago. My guess is they are trying to sell off the stock so they can use the same shelf space for CN instead since they are more expensive.

Maybe we will all get lucky and they will return to manufacturing the FN 142 instead, or maybe a model that is similar to it. I would much prefer to have a unit that bolts together rather than one that just fits together and doesn't actually lock in any way. If not, I'll just keep stalking craigslist until I have all the used 142's that I need. Actually, just one more 142 and one more CN 162 is all I need. Then I'll have 6 triple stacks and I'll be set....

I keep getting 182 and 142 mixed up.
The two cages i have in use now are both 142. But the two extra cages i bought (havnt opened yet since im moving soon) are both 182.
But either way, they both seem a bit harder to find then they used to be. I checked at petsmart this week when i was in there. They didnt have a FN cage of any kind. And only one CN cage that i saw.

I know pet supermarket sells the 182 model. I saw it the last time I was there, but it is around the usual price of $240 I think

Never heard of it. We do have petco and petsmart here but they have minimal large cages. Maybe a pop together wire and plastic ferret cage and the odd large aviary. We have one petland and they've even quit selling large birds and aviaries. All they have are single story guinea pig/rabbit cages and small bird cages along with the stuff so small I would never put a hamster in it. The feed store has a better selection of rabbit cages but they are either single store wire crates with plastic bottom or fake wood looking hutches with removable wire grate over plastic pan and a little bottomless run area.
