I'm thinking aobut getting a Ferret nation cage, but i was wondering if it makes a mess ? Someome i knew use to have one with chinchillas in it and when they ran around there poop would go everywhere so you would always get a bunch around the cage. Does this happen to anyone ?

If you buy the Bass pans it really helps to cut down on the mess. All of my wooden shelves also have backs on them so the poo doesn't roll outside the cage. Even with these two measures, I still have to vacuum daily around the cages.

Also, you should know the bar spacing it too wide for your kits, so you would have to modify it if you plan on putting the wee ones in there.

I have FN142, and had the same problem. What I eventually did was buy some boards that were 10 inches tall, about 1 inch thick and cut them to he length of my cage. Then I attached them with bolts and washers. I had to cut the front one in half and leave a little space so that the doors would close though. They did chew on them for the first few days, but then seem to have gotten bored. I tried backing the shelves/ledges, it didnt seem to make much difference, at least in my case. Otherwise, it really seems to cut the mess.

Yeah I also have 4" and 3" bass pans and this helps with containing poop and shavings. However, I don't use the included shelves or ramps from the FN, only wood shelves with poop guards. Also, I drape a couple yards of fleece on the left and right sides of the cage from the top down and it helps contain dust, fur and poop...well, they either stick to it or fall down close to the cage. The chins seem to appreciate the bit of privacy it affords as well.

In the end, the little brown tic tacs magically appear everywhere...I know one source is when they poop while they run...poop flingers! :hair:

Bass pans work wonders, but so does lining the cage with either a liner or tiles and then using a litter pan, less mess around the cage. Also if you have shelves or ledges with lips or edges on them it helps reduce the mess.
