female or male?

I have just recently bought my chinchilla from a pet store and they said that she was a female and the sign on the front of her cage said that as well but it is a pet store and I would hate to go on believing she is a female if she is not. SO my question is how do you know female from male?

(I do know that the male's is further apart than the females but with nothing to compare against, it is a little hard.):confused3:
