Anyone know the ingredients in the Exotic nutritions feed? I found it, but it says roughage products, and grain byproducts. Just wondering what that means.

Thanks!

I am not an expert on feeds, but this might make it easier on the folks that are. The Exotic Nutritions feed I found listed this as ingredients:

Thank you so much! It was recommended to me by someone, but I'm not pleased seeing corn meal on the list. :(

I'm bummed now, I looked up the ingredients list of the Mazuri I use and there is corn in it as well. It's not corn meal tough, it's called ground yellow corn and it's the 11th ingredient listed. I would also be concerned with corn being so high on the list. :(

UPDATE:
I received an email from Exotic Nutrition regarding the corn, they said it is not used as a filler because it is only something like 4%, it's used as an energy source.

I can't say I've ever heard of corn used as an energy source. I feel like that may just be that company's way of defending themselves to say "oh, it's not a filler, buy our food!" But that's just my thoughts.

With as many good foods as there are out there -- Oxbow, Mazuri, Tradition, Manna Pro Show, Nutrena, and on and on, I wouldn't use one like Exotic Nutrition, that's not on the list...

I know, right. I wonder about it... I was going to use Manna Pro Show but the rescue I bought my chins from said to use Exotic. Here is a copy of their email response:

Corn is used in our Chinchilla Diet as an energy source. Our Chinchilla diet contains approx. 5% corn. It is not used as a filler, and in this amount is very easily digestible. We do not recommend feeding whole corn, or a diet consisting of more than about 10% corn. Feeding corn in excess may cause digestive tract issues.
