i took my chinchilla to the vet "pepper" last night thinking that she was pregnant. and found out that she is not pregnant and that she just gained some weight. i was wondering how do you get your chinchilla to exercise i have tried getting a big hamster ball, a saucer, a big wheel and they don't like any of it and suggestion or toys will be helpful thanks :)

The best exercise would be to let your chinchilla out into a clean chin-proofed room and let her run around for a while. This means nothing dangerous that she can chew on (like wires) and preferably no where she can hide from you under (like a dresser or a bed). Chins can fit under surprisingly small gaps. 1.5-2" is plenty of space for a lot of chins to squeeze under.

A lot of people use bathrooms because the floors are fairly bare and you don't have wires/cables that you need to worry about. If you use the bathroom, make sure you keep the toilet lid closed. A chin can jump in it and it can be catastrophic.

I use a small hallway in my house. There's literally nothing in the hall, so she has lots of room to run and jump around. I do play time with Mochi 3-4 times a week for 30 mins - 1.5 hrs depending on her mood.

The balls are really bad news for chins. They can overheat too easily in those and die.
