Is it safe for hedgies to eat grass? I took my little girl outside for a little bit and she was running around and eating the grass. I haven't had her for too long I am just worried that something may happen or if its alright that she was doing that.

I'd try to discourage it because you have no idea what may be on the grass. I know it's not completely unavoidable (my hogs always come in with muddy noses after being outside), but it's probably in your hog's best interest to discourage this as much as possible unless you're absolutely, 100% sure that chemicals have not been used on your lawn.

I would do as Courtney said, I would discourage as much as possible, even if your grass is 110% organic. I'm sure someone once mentioned their hedgie beeing sick and vomiting grass.

Are you sure it wasnt that the hedgehog annointed over the grass? I remember reading THAT.

Anyways you may habe perfectly untreated grass but what about your neighbors? Sometimes when spraying pesticides they get caught in the wind and can travel over to your lawn. Or if there were a bug in the grass that they are eating that traveled from your neighbors lawn (that could have pesticides or other chemicals) over to your lawn.

Thanks Everyone. I didn't let her chow down on the grass, she ate a few pieces then I made sure she didn't have anymore because I was worried about it. I have been keeping a close eye on her and everything seems to be normal. I will make sure to keep the advice in mind! thanks

When do we get to see a picture of the new little girl? I just love hedgie pictures!!!!!!!!!
