Ducklings come home

I was at the feed store Saturday and found out they had ducklings coming in this week! I don't have a pond, but made friends with a woman who lives on an island near me. I get to raise the little ones and she is going to let me keep them on her property when they're bigger. I picked them out yesterday after the feed store worker saw me looking in at them and put "Chip" the black duck in my hands... evil intentions!
Their names are "Chip" and "Dale." The photos are from when they just got home yesterday and I let them spend a few minutes in the sink to dip their toes. I have them set up in a cage for now with a waterer, feed, and heating lamp. I've been doing a lot of reading up on raising ducklings. They're very friendly and fun to watch.

I know nothing about ducks... but just thought I'd mention that they are adorable! They just look so soft and fuzzy, and even their little feet look cute. haha.

I've always liked ducks. My grandpa had about 20 or so ducks and I used to love going over to his house and seeing them. I would love to have some now for slug control but there are too many strays around. They must have had a blast in the sink... duck heaven. Congrats on your new little friends!

I love ducks and had some years ago when my first Border Collie was young. They are such awesome birds. Do you know what kind of ducks they are? I had Rouen ducks. They look like large Mallards.

I love ducklings! Ever year at the state fair they have them in the 4H building. They have a slide set up that slides into a little pool of water for them. The little ducklings race up and push eachother into the water! it is so funny.

I want to take the black one home.

They LOVED the sink! I was told they are a black runner and I think they said the other was a magpie.

Yes, there's a lake near me and she owns the only island on it. She also rescues ducks.

I know people who live on an island really near me called the Toronto island... it's an awesome place with beaches, ferry rides, etc. and people live there year round. Whenever I go there to have a picnic, the Canada geese always chase us! lol... I could just imagine the geese playing with the ducks!
(Canada geese can be downright vicious!)

But they are adorable!!!
I wonder if Bernie will let me set up a little pond in our apartment... hmmm... lol
