I just read on a diffrent site that some breeders put chunks of drywall in the chins cages. Is this ok for them to chew on? If it is thats wonderfull as i am a drywall contractor and have plenty of extra!
There was a huge discussion about this on CnQ before it went down. I wish I could access it again as Nancy had made some very good points.
Yes, some ranchers do give it to their chins. No, I would not. There are much better alternatives out there. I really don't see the purpose to dry wall. It would get gummy and powdery and make a huge mess. They would probably ingest it, which would take away needed space for actual healthy calories. I would prefer to give chin safe wood chews.
The drywall of the past was made just from gypsum which is calcium sulfate. Nowadays drywall has things added to such as glass fiber, mold inhibitors and other nasty things to make it cheaper to make. I would not feed today's drywall to a chin, there is no need.
Just buy alot of chin safe woods I love the scrap packs from PPBN there pretty cheap and give the chinnys alot of variety (The question was answered so i figured id steer you towards one of my favorite buys)
