Good luck and prayers to you both! I'm sure Drizzle will be fine Crysta. Did you decide on the full amputation?

If she does anywhere as well as Drizzle did, she'll be fantastic. :) Come on Andariel! We're all rooting for you!

Drizzle made it through the surgery with flying colors. The vet said his hand really didn't look as bad as he thought it would, and there was no sign of any new chewing. The vet did not remove his whole arm. I talked to him face to face this morning, and he said he did not want to do that for a few infected fingers. He said if I did want the entire arm removed because of the fingers, he would refer me to another vet who could do it, but he wasn't willing to go that far off this small of a wound. I trust him, so we did decide to try this first. The vet said he is pretty groggy now, but that he was coming out of it and I would be able to pick him up at 12:30.

first of all.........YAY!!!

2nd........if not too graphic or too much trouble, would you be able to post pix. i always find it a learning experience when viewing these type of things.

Sure. :) If you look at the pictures of him in chin chat you will see the hand and how blech it looked. I will post pictures of the after when I get home.

He's home now, but this was taken at the vet. He's so not happy, but oh so adorable. :p

I have since turned the cone around so that it covers his hands, but he can still move around the cage a bit easier.

Fingers crossed for a speedy & uneventful recovery for Drizzle. :)

Well, she's had mastitis for over 3 weeks. She's been through a round of TMZ and Baytril and it was no better, so I took her to the vet this morning and there is no bacteria that could be found in the lumps and there were no cancerous cells. I had a quick lance done to send off to the lab so that we can see if the antibiotics worked and if the "cottage cheese" material is sterile and we need to have it surgically removed. It looks so darn painful and it's quite large in size. If we find an antibiotic that will work, we'll go that route first, but the vet feels as if she's gonna end up in surgery, which means two of her nipples will be affected and I most likely won't have her in breeding again. She's on Metacam until then. So $400 in and no answer yet :(

Poor baby. :( I am so sorry that your vet is out of his mind with his prices, and I am so sorry that she doesn't seem to be getting better. I hope everything starts to go in your favor. She is such a beautiful girl.

How's Drizzle doing a couple of days post-surgery? I didn't catch in the thread--did Dr. Hart amputate the leg, or just the fingers?

He looked great the other day! :)
