I am wanting to really get a GIANT cage for my rattie girls, and I'm looking for suggestions. I found the double Critter Nation that I really like, although its super expensive, I really like the way its set up. Does anyone know of any other cages similar that might be a little less pricey? I have some baby rats so it has to be 1/2" spacing at most, I dont want babies out everywhere! Thanks for your help!

We have the double Critter Nation for my son's rat boys and love it. Never have to worry about the cats reaching in or rats getting out nd they were tiny when we first got them. We have it into 2 cages right now because our local little pet store gave him a sweet little baby boy rat and we want him to be bigger before leaving them together.

The cage we had for his first rat had six levels in it but he could get out so he couldn't be in it until he was older.

Even if you got the single story Critter Nation it is bigger then most cages you can buy for rats. I looked at all kinds of cages before buying the CN and it was worth the price.

Yeah it looks like an awesome cage, and my ratties only get the best! Just have to save up (which I'm doing) and buy it for them

My ratties are in a FN 142 with the hardware cloth attached to it so they cant escape. I love it!! I had all girls and they got to live in both levels until...
I got a girl who was already pregnant (surprise)! I rehomed some of the 10 babies and kept the ones that I couldnt find homes for. Now I have my FN set up with the 5 girls up top and my 4 boys on bottom, it works great!

OMG, I love the first and the last one! I saw a FN 142 on Craigslist for $150... hmm... I just had a litter of babies out of my siamese girl, the petstore said she was a dumbo (she isnt) and there was a black boy in there that was, she thought it was a girl! HOW do you think a boy rat is a girl??? I have homes lined up for several (there were 14, 8 girls, and 6 boys). The ones not adopted, the girls are staying with me, and the boys will be going to live with my friend who already has a boy rat.

Have you visited goosemoose? If not, I would recommend heading over to that forum and doing a search through the rat housing section. You will find some amazing threads on rat home ideas. How to modify FN142s to be safe, Martin cage help, etc.
