Went looking for a mate this afternoon for Stevie.
There were only 3 chins:

A little standard grey and a bigger one.
Then I saw it ...

A very beautifull mosaic!
sadly enough all three were males :(
as Stevie is female I didn't want to have kits (Couldn't care for them as I have school in September)

The girl responsible for the chins even wanted to sell me a prairiedog!

Just had to say this as i'm very dissapointed!!

New chins are coming in the last week of august.
CAN'T WAIT!

Good luck! Hopefully you find the perfect baby soon. Pairings seem to work better with youngings as well. Be sure to practice proper quarantine. :)

I hope you find a mate for Stevie. I want to get a mate for Burrito but my Mom wont let me. (Im only 15) Mabey I can convince her by my birthday.;)

Hope these aren't pet store chins at pet shop prices!
Look around your area for a breeder that's a member here, and save some money and aggrevation!
You've no idea where a petstore chin came from! It's pedigree, the conditions it was born in, it's previous feed, everything about it is unknown, may not be good, and could be nothing but grief and costly down the road! Most pet shops don't even know how to sex a kit!
The background of a chin is very important, especially if you're even thinking of breeding down the road!
Look at the 'chins for sale' section, and see if someone close to you has some kits for sale.

I don't think there is anything wrong with getting a petstore chin as a pet as long as you make sure you can identify their sex. All chins need homes. But for breeding, I agree that it is imperative to know their background to ensure that no genetic abnormalities like malo or fur chewing are passed on.
I also don't think the chins for sale section will help much since the OP is in Belgium, but it sounds like the OP has a breeder chosen in their area already. It may help burritothechinchilla. I know there are some great reputable breeders & rescues here in Canada with chins for sale/up for adoption!
Again, good luck. Hopefully you have an extra cage and room all set up and ready for quarantine when your new little one comes home with you!

Yeah, when I find a mate for Burrito I want to adopt a chin in need! But right now my mom says one is enough. I also think that my mom is hesitant because I havent had Burrito for that long. Mabey when I have her for a while. My birthday is in 3 months so I can show her that I am experienced and I can take care of her well. I may be able to get Burrito a mate the same way I got Burrito...by annoying my parents ALOT:tease:lol. My dad didn't even know that me and my mom went to get her. We werent even planning on getting her that night. But when we saw how cute she was and we didnt want her to go to someone else, she let me get her.:) When we got home we had to sneek past my Dad and my dogs to get into the house with Burrito and her cage. My dogs still dont know we have Burrito lol. But ANYWAYS... I'm going to try that method again around my birthday. And if they dont say that they are getting me a mate, I will just use the money I get.:neener: And if I could get the names of those breeders it would be great for when the time comes.

Is there a Belgium in Canada?

No, I do not think there is. The OP is listed as being from Poperinge, which is in Belgium.

Burrito - Just be sure to get a same-sex mate. You don't want to have babies on your hands. They are a huge responsibility and can get very expensive. Also, make sure your parents support your decision for another chinchilla. You'll need them to take the chin to the vet & pay the bill if anything, God forbid, happens to your chins. Good luck with everything! Be sure to read up on quarantine and introduction methods :)

I know all about the quarantine, intro methods, and have a same-sex mate:)
I have been thinking about getting her a mate from almost 3 days after I got her. I have been reading all about introducing chinchillas and I have been looking at kijiji for my area hoping to find a cheap or free chinchilla for adoption. But still I dont think my parents will let me get another chinchilla for a while untill they see that I take care of Burrito.:)

Belgium: Land of beer, fries and chocolate :D (My town is known as the beertown :D)
Sorry just had to say that!

And Burrito ... my dog knows I've got a chin :p she once grabbed his tail through the cage. He's friendly to Stevie though.

As for a petshop chin I know those from a breeder are still better but finding one out here ain't that simple.

BUT ... the girl I mentioned earlier has kits herself (from chins with a pedigree) and she's bringing those to the store to sell once they are old enough.

I don't think there's a problem with that or even with pet store chins

Good luck finding Stevie a mate! I found my chinchilla a mate, but it was a boy, and i had a girl. so my male is getting neutered. I was planning on getting a female, but I couldn't resist getting him. Well good luck:-D
