Hey everyone,

Sorry if this topic has come up before, i'm brand new here. Ive been wanting a chinchilla for close to 10 years now but wasn't in a position to get one until now. Problem is I will be moving abroad again within 2 years and it will be a huge 18hours long haul flight. Has anyone got any experience flying chinchillas abroad, was it safe ? I know it's better to avoid it all together like with any animal in long haul transit but has it been done with any of you and what are your experiences?

Please just answers from those that have done this,

Thanks a lot! I really need this advice

Where will you be flying too? If I remember correctly chins aren't allow in some places.

Also, you need to consider the time of year and the temperature during the time you will be flying.

I've never took a chin on a plane, while I know some people do, I don't recommend it.

I only feel safe flying chins in winter. That length of travel time is concerning. I personally wouldn't keep my chins in carriers on a plane that long. A car is one thing, a plane....so many temperature fluctuations and other stressors out of your control that could lead to chin death.

I tried to find an airline that would let me fly home with my new baby in cabin with me and after several days of phone calls, emails, and internet searches I had absolutely no sucess. Ended up flying to show, renting a car and driving home with my new member of the family.
