SO, I have a handful of females that are due to litter before the new year. One of them was an ebony white female who hasn't produced a live kit in over a year. Her last live birth was a very nice ebony white male who placed Res.Sec.Champ at State College this spring in the young glass. Her current mate is Aspen, a very pretty boy I got from Mish earlier this year (this is his first kit) who placed Res.Phase @ Nationals. She'd put on around 130g so far, couldn't easily feel the kit(s) yet so I figured she had a bit to go yet. Went to the chin room this mornin' to find a, still wet, super dark baby! He's a cutie pie too. Weighed him out dry at 66g and boy is he feisty! He's already complaining when I open the cage door! Very active little booger, just hoping all goes well through weaning! Anywho, you just never know HOW much ebony whites are carrying until the produce something THIS dark! LOVE LOVE LOVE dark ebony babies, they always look so cuddly! Anywho, wish he were a SHE, otherwise very happy and expecting a stunner out of this boy. Enjoy.

Wanted to add, as I aparently glossed over it, Aspen the father is a PURE standard. So only one parent had ebony and that was the ebony white mother :) she apparently carries it pretty heavily. Her last kit that was born (found dead at birth) was a lighter ebony. I'm just so happy with the kits this female gives me. Again, wish it was a girl because there's always room for another female ;) and he'll be quite young for show this season but I may still take him to see what the judges think.

He should be ;) I do want to hold him until the ACS...though I doubt he'll be ready for that show. He IS an ebony afterall. Dad's a wee thing (right around 600g) but mom's nice at 850g not pregnant. I showed a kit last show that was a December kit. We shall see!

Christiane- she delivered a few days after I messaged you, the kit (a 72g hetero ebony) was found dead. Very disappointing but at least I know she can reproduce.

Barb- will do ;)

Everyone else- thank you all so much, the pictures don't do justice. He's SO fluffy and just terribly active for day one. Like, he's feisty and doesn't like picked up so he throws a royal fit and tries running. When i was taking his pictures he was going every which way! Just SO darned cute!

TY Brenda ;) AND...because I'm a bit slow...his mommy is the chin in my avatar. She almost looks siamese w/dark points (nose, tail, legs)

Thanks for all the compliments, I'm almost half tempted to keep him LOL! Must be a vigorous feeder too along with all his energy! In 24hrs he's managed to GAIN 4g! I'm so super excited to see him grow, and am so proud his mommy's milk came in good enough already.

Yeah, as disappointing and sad AND frustrating as it was...she DID get pregnant really quickly so hopefully next litter won't be a repeat (fingers crossed). I'll keep ya posted!
