Hi All!
New chin owner here. We've had our little guy, Dobby for just over 3 weeks and he turned 3 months this past Saturday (Nov. 12th). Both my wife and I have done a ton of research thanks to this forum and the like. He has a very healthy diet of Oxbow Essentials Chinchilla food, Timothy hay, water, plenty of wood chews, and after play time we give him a small sliver of rosehip sometimes. Also, the occasional oats as well when we are trying to get him used to our hands more. Anyways, I noticed this yellowish crusty-like substance (see picture) in the very bottom corner of his cage. I don't know how long it's been there but we just changed the fleece on Sunday. I've read that Chins can't vomit so I have no idea what it could be. Any advice would be appreciated. As of this morning he seemed totally fine. Thank you!

Jay

Update: It's just urine. The fleece is still new and on the fluffy side so it made it seem a little crusty. Chalk this up to first time chin owner being over protective :)

Also, I'm not sure why the pictures didn't attach. Just in case anyone was curious.

Hi Jay, the photo isn't showing up as far as I can tell...?

Is there a possibility that the 'yellowish crusty-like substance' could be dried urine? Especially considering the fact it's in the corner of the cage, where chins are likely to pee...? I've noticed that if the chins manage to angle themselves so that the pee hits the cardboard we have guarding the walls, it'll dry, turn a yellowish white color and a bit crusty.

I've tried to reply to my own post (I think they need admin approval). But yes it is dried urine. The fluffy new fleece may it dry crusty so we are all good! Thanks!
