Creating a Website

I have to create a website this semester to promote myself as an up and coming clarinetist. So many members of C&H have well designed professional websites so I thought I'd ask you to help me get started. What programs, hosts, and/or online providers did you use for creating your website? I don't mind paying a monthly or yearly fee, but I don't want a host that is going to put their advertisments up on my site.

I use godaddy.com and website tonight it isn't free but they make it so very simple

That's what we used for our shop website: Godaddy hosting and Website Tonight. Very easy to use..

I also bought a domain through GoDaddy and I used Joomla to build my website. Joomla is pretty easy to get the hang of and has lots of style options. If you go that route I can help you out. ) I pay $10 a year.

we buy our work domains thru godaddy.com
when i was a partner in a scrapbook getaway company, i used register.com to get the domain name and build the website.........it was super easy, they had tons of models that you could chose from and just plug in your info.

My domain and hosting is through GoDaddy as well, and I write my own html/CSS so I don't need/use a site builder (its free and NO ads that way, but you do have to learn a lot).
I think I only pay something like $60 a year for my website, and I can add as many pages to it as I want.

I used webs.com for my site (used to be freewebs.com) - I don't pay anything for it, and that's ok because it's got lots of templates and useful tools, so even if you don't know much (I don't know much about website building) you can put something together that looks pretty good I think.

Looking good. And I don't see any chins either!

Spoof - Tara on here designed my website and she went with Godaddy for the website name but has another server that is cheaper she uses. You might want to contact her.
