I read online that its ok for a chinchilla to eat crab apple branches.

My chinnies love the bark of branches and i was thinking it would be a nice change for them to eat a different type of branch :D

Do you think they will be ok to eat these type of branches ? I just want to check first.

i believe crab apple is a safe wood.

just be sure that whatever tree you are getting it from hasn't had pesticides or chemicals used on it, and scrub, boil, and bake the wood.

i have given my chinnies crab apple before. its not their favorite wood but they like it.

as long as the trees the branches cam from are not sprayed than you just need to prepare them properly. i usually scrub my twigs with a brush, give them a quick 3 minute or less boil bath and then bake at 175 for 1 to 2 hours depending on the thickness. a good guidleline that i read here is they are done when they have that wrinkly look to the bark.

Thanks, cant wait to get to it now :D My mom wont let me cut the pear or apple tree down untill september and their is loads of untreated crab apple trees around.

Thank you !!
