i went to purchase my collars and found that there are nylon and metal rivets.

do i want the metal ones? and do i need the "rivet setting tool" too?

just want to make sure i get what i need the first time.

also the difference between reg. size collars and Large collars?

I use both kinds of rivets. I find I need the rivet setting tool more for the nylon rivets. The collar size real depends on the size of the chin. Almost all my 800+ gram females need the large collar.

how do i measure or know what size i need? can i just get the large ones and make holes in them to be smaller? would that even work?

It might be a little hard to add holes. I normally just buy a couple of both sizes since they are not that expensive.

I don't know what type the Ryersons sell, but I have mostly 6 hole ones vs. 4 hole. The six holers go larger and smaller than the four holers.

Mine always ate the non-metal rivets.

Just get a couple of each and try them.

Can someone post a photo of the two things you guys are talking about... I dont think I'm picturing what I should be right now lol (sorry new chin person) :p
