Do the chinny shuffle!
Kay, I can't decide which side of the fence you are on. One minute you seem against it, and then the next you are all for it.

I personally like to hear about people's personal lives.
I mean, a lot of people watch reality tv, dr. phil, soap operas, etc. (I don't, but they sure are popular!). So how is that any different? Besides... if you don't like it, tough. It's there. The mods allow it an no matter how much anyone thinks that it should or shouldn't be there... it is there.
Why are we arguing about this anyways? It just seemed as though this thread was made to complain about people sharing details about their personal lives.
The thing about this site that is somewhat different from most general animal forums out there is that with chinchillas, there are live animal shows all over the country that many of the members here go to and happen to meet each other person to person. So this isn't just your average ordinary online forum where most people on it do not "know" one another. I venture to say that most, if not very many, of the members of this forum have at one time met in real life, face to face. I know that while I do not have chins currently, I have indeed met a great number of the members of this site (and some people that have yet to join) at the chin shows that I did attend while I was breeding a while back. I have found it wonderful to be able to keep up with them and what's going on in their lives with the sections on the forum that permit me to do so. Otherwise, it's just a general discussion of animals and their care. This forum can be so much more than that if you allow it to be. There are GREAT friendships that can be established and kept via this or any online forum.
I guess if you don't like the chit-chat section, you can minimize it and not look at it. Seems like a simple concept to me.
