My brother saw Danny cleaning his little boy area and pulling something off and chewing it. The area looked a reddish and pinkish. I told him he was probably cleaning some bedding or food that got stuck their. Was I correct?

Sounds like a hair ring. Like it sounds, it is a ring of hair that gets stuck around the penis. Search "hair ring" on the forum search and you will turn up quite a bit of information. It is best to check chins with hair ring problems monthly, as some times they can not remove them themselves and it requires the owner to do so.

Lol this is completely normal. They aren't pulling anything pink off "it", they are pulling...well, "It." They extend their genitals to clean them.
I was in awe when I saw my first male do this! It was kinda fascinating.
