I cant believe this has fricken' happened.
I just took a chunk of polystyrene packing off Jasmine... she was eating it. I also saw Rosey nibbling on it in her playtime, but because I thought it was just a well chewed lava bite I didnt grab it. I only knew what it was when Jasmine brought it closer to me and I got a better view.

My partner was in the cupboard before playtime, moving stuff around, and the polystyrene must have fallen out without him noticing. I didnt even know it was in there, and I certainly didnt see it on the playroom floor.

What the @#$% do I do??? I'm freaking out, especially because I dont know how much of the bloody stuff they've eaten. I'm guessing all I can do is monitor poops and eating over the next few days and nights right?

**** Im usually so careful as well.... and I know its an accident but Im so PO'd....both at my partner and at myself for not seeing it sooner.

Im literally terrified, and I know Im gonna be up all night watching Rosebud and Baby J. Is there anything I can do??? Anything at all, or do I simply have to watch and wait and hope it doesnt make them sick???

The best thing to do is keep an eye on their poops, appetite, and activity level. If you see a decrease in poop or if the poop looks small and dry, if they stop eating, or if they become lethargic, get them to a vet.

I agree with Stackie on this one. Monitor them for any change in their "normal". Did they actually eat it or just chew and let the pieces drop?

I did find little chewed bits on the floor, but I cant rule out them ingesting some.

I slept next to their cages last night and got up every couple of hours to check on them. My partner is going to work from home today so he can keep an eye on them while Im at work.

So far they seem okay....but then they've mostly been napping and snacking. But yeah, any change in their normal and they'll be off to the vets straight away.

Thanks guys.

Jasmine! you naughty girl! Amanda I hope all is well with the girlies. Keep me posted!

hey a friend of mine suggested I give the girls a tiny piece of dried papaya to help their guts move a little quicker, ie, to get rid of the polystyrene faster.

I havent given any yet cause I wanted to check with you guys....does anyone know if this is a good idea?

I wouldn't give them anything. As long as they are acting normal, just let them be. Once you notice any of the signs I mentioned above, get them to a vet and let the vet decide the best course of action.

Odds are if they did eat it, it was very little, since you found pieces parts laying around. they probably just destroyed it instead.

I wouldn't give any papaya or anything else at this point. As Stackie suggested, just keep an eye on them and watch for any changes.

Just a quick update: Rosey and Jasmine seem completely normal, so I'm pretty sure that all is well!! Thanks for the support and advice xxxxx
