Chinchilla wood help!

[Nova Scotia Chinchilla]

i was looking to do something with a piece of firewood i have for my 3 chinchillas, I'm just unsure if its safe first of all and second of all if the bark is harmful.

last thing i would want to do is hurt the little guys, any input at all would help. Thanks!

The list of safe woods for chinchillas is in the FAQ section of this website. If it is a safe wood most chins enjoy the bark.

Since it's just fire wood, after you check that it's a safe wood you also are going to want to wash it and bake it to kill any bugs and bacteria that might be in or on the wood. The safe wood list as well as how to prepare wood can both be found under the Housing and Supplies FAQs.

Also, depending on where you got your wood. If it was in an area sprayed with pesticides they could soak in and be toxic to your pet. And if it was treated with any chemicals to be firewood (any accelerants) That's also bad.
