i got a newwheel for my chinchilla but she wont use it. shell sit in it but for some reason she wont run. is there some way to get her to use it?

Do give her some time as Essentia said.

I've got 2 wheels that ForchinateChins makes and Gizmo ran his the first day I put it in. Macy it took her about a day to start using it and then she just sat on it. A couple days later she started "running" it. she doesn't actually run it, she hops and waits for it to stop, then hops again.

My chin Chula did the same thing. I am thinking it is the smaller running area. Once I got him an Ed wheel (very similar to a chin spin) he actually started running instead of hopping.

i actually got the wheel in august, ive tried to move the wheel to different locations but it still doesnt work... its not a flying saucer but one of the big round plastic ones with the colourful rim

I had one and my guys started chewing on it so i threw it out but them used it. It just took them a while, it takes even longer sometimes if the breeder doesnt have wheels. They may be using it but you just arent seeing them use it. Mine only use theirs late at night. I bought a chin spin and a flying saucer. Two investments that was well worth it, they last forever.

Sometimes if you go from a wheel to a saucer it takes a while for them to figure out how it works. They also have prefrences, I noticed. My chins love their wheels, But I just bought a new wheel for pennelope and Wilbur and they run it into the ground. They love it- it gets 10 times the amount of use the old one got!

If its that it maybe too small and uncomfortable for her. If it is under 11" it is too small and causes back injuries. If she doesn't feel safe or if the wheel hurts to run on or she cannot get a good stride she will not use the wheel. Look for a nice big wheel like the chin spin or the Fortchinate chin model or the flying saucer.

I personally recommend the flying saucer and the 15"chin spin.

I have never seen a comfort wheel in 15 inches. Largest I have seen is 12 inches.

No matter the size (which none are large enough anyway) those plastic or wire wheels are not safe for chins. They fall apart easily which is dangerous in itself. The wire wheels can cause leg breaks. The plastic ones are flimsy and literally just fall apart. The comfort wheels also have that middle bar which causes whatever animal that is running on it to very uncomfortably arch their backs.
