So I currently have one of the round, (not plastic) chinchilla wheels. But the one problem I have with it is that Wilbur is constantly getting poop stuck all over his fur from running in his wheel.

Have you guys noticed this with the flying saucer wheel? I really think that one looks interesting but shelling out 90 bucks for it on a whim seems a little much lol.

Also since he has never had that type of wheel before I would be worried about him not knowing how to use it. Do they tend to adjust pretty well?

What are your guys favorite types of wheels, and why?

I have the chin spin from quality cage. I have never used the flying saucer but have heard some chins take a little time to learn how to use it. I have never had issues with my chin's poos getting stuck on their fur. What kind of wheel do you have? Your chins' poos should be almost firm to the touch, does it flatten/squish down very easily?

We have the chinspin and I love it. Before we tried the chinspin, we went through a saucer as well as ALL the local petstore wheels, each one suffered a horrible end at the feet of Dr. Death. When we got our second chin I knew we'd spent enough on other wheels that if I'd found the chinspin earlier I could have used that wasted money to pay for a chinspin right off the back.

His poop is hard, i shouldnt say sticking to fur, more like resting on the fluff lol. Because when he runs in his wheel I can actually hear the poop tinkling while hes running. I will have to check out a chin spin and maybe see if his poop wont stay in the wheel with that one.

Oh I am not sure what brand my current wheel is, I got it from an exotic pet shop in town, but its metal and it has metal feet that sit on the ground. I think the problem is that it might be too deep and not large enough.

I have the chinspin. He loves it! and the poos just fly off while he runs.

I have chinspins and a silver surfer .I like them both.

My mosic Orin gets poop on his back too when running on his wheel.
They fall off or I pick them off.I think I just notice it more on him because he's so white and my other boys are standards and a black velvet.

I have the chin spin and there's poop in it sometimes and I can hear the poop hitting the wheel  then it usually just falls off. I've never seen it on the chin tho, but I admagine if could land on him.:hilarious:

I used to have a silent spinner, and yeah, you'd hear a lovely rattling noise when she'd run if there were poos in there :) She's got a flying saucer now, though, so it's not an issue as far as I've noticed.

I'm just glad chin poos are hard and little! I already have enough issues with my hedgie... Silly guy doesn't seem to poo anywhere *but* on his wheel while he's running. He's a messy lil' fellow, that's for sure!

I have both the ChinSpin and Flying Saucer. The poops are kind of 'launched' off the flying saucer, since it isn't a wheel per say but a dish. Ultimate poo flinging machine, to everywhere BUT the chin. ;)

I have 3 flying saucers, and all 5 of my girls have figured out how to run on them, even the ones who grew up on a ranch without a wheel when they were young.

And yes, Stacie's right, they are the ultimate poo flinging machines. I find the poo 10 feet away from the cage sometimes..

I'm not sure what the one poster was talking about their chin destroying the saucer, that would be pretty hard to do seeing as they're metal. Perhaps they bought the stupid plastic one you can get at the petstores. Don't buy that one. The metal one online is really well built. I've only had to replace a bearing once in the 4 years that I've owned them, and that wheel I had bought used too.
