Hey everyone,
My 12 year old chinchilla has been having a few health issues..
He is a fur eater
He's skinny.. Even though we have him on a proper diet
He has a hunch back ): we got him when he was 3 (we were told that at least) and his previous owner fed him trail mix. Human trail mix the kind with M&Ms. So I think that may have caused enough permanent damage to cause a chronic illness which is causing the hunch back? I'm not sure.
The newest issue is that he has been falling from his shelves. He isn't jumping and falling he's sleeping or sitting and just tumbles. Before he falls he makes a quiet squeak sound, almost like an exhale and then falls. When we go to him he's normally on his side it takes about 30 seconds and then he's up and going.
I'm at a loss. Could it be age? Is he just dying?
