There are many things that would need to be worked out first in order to make this show happen. I need to run the idea by the Heartland Group and see if they like it and would allow us to use their show equipment. As for the time of year, I would like to do the first or second Saturday in November. The Mutation show would be run exactly like the Standard show with 10 class system. The exhibitor would place the animals in whatever order they wanted by your cage #'s. Each class would have a different variety of colors in it competing for class champion. It's a little tougher for the judge to decide the best of each class, but is a real advantage to the exhibitor who brings 5 Black Velvets and 5 Ebonies for example, you will have 1 animal in all 10 classes competing for champion instead of only having animals in 2 classes (the ebony and bv class) like current mutation show rules. If there is a really strong Violet or White or Beige it's going to have to beat an Ebony or a Black Velvet in order to be a class champion which makes it more deserving. All 10 Mutation classes will be much more competive this way. The final pay out award money will really be determined by amount of animals shown. Participation is really the key to making this type of show work. I will continue to get more information on the feasibility of this show and keep you posted.

If you want higher attendance, I'd try a date farther from the national meeting. We put on a seminar a couple years back and it was two weeks before the national meeting. Almost everyone who said they could/would come backed out about a month before the seminar because we were "too close to the national meeting".

I also think this is a great idea though. If it were closer I would attend, but unfortunately with school being my priority right now, I just can't travel very much for the shows. Maybe if it's a success and another one gets held the next year I can attend (graduation is around the corner!).

Good point on the National meeting. The first Saturday of November is Oklahoma City & the meeting, I think. I couldn't do something the very next weekend or my dog / chin sitters would go on strike!

I have heard that going forward, the National Meeting is going to be strictly a business meeting only, with no seminars or other educational opportunities or events.

I would appreciate learning if anyone knows otherwise...

Hum, I haven't heard but I'll be asking! That's a long way to go for a meeting only. If that's the case they could just Skype it. I've added that question to my list of phone calls to make today. :)

QTPIE, this is York Nebraska...

I would like to see a show with maybe a seminar or something the following morning, making it a 2 for 1 trip for people... Perhaps the judges could hold the seminar?

I obviously would attend, lol.

I like the 2 for 1 idea! I've pondered whether WI MCBA & WI ECBC should try a 2-shows-on-one-weekend extravaganza, one Saturday, one Sunday.

That would be insanity inducing craziness...!

Awww! I thought 10 class one day & classification the next would be an interesting challenge and more bang for your travel dollar! Rabbit clubs run doubles (even quad shows) all the time. ;). Some of us northern chin folk are crazy anyway...

From what I heard today, the plan seems to be judge's seminar Saturday AM, followed by delegate's meeting & board meeting. A streamlined format for this year.
