My baby chinchilla, 4 months old, always seems to keep one eye a little shut. When we first brought him home and gave him a dust bath and we noticed some irritation, little discharge. But for the past month we have made some changes and he has quit getting any discharge and his eye looks great. But he still always seems to keep it a little closed and like I said I don't know why because it isn't red or dischargy, he doesn't paw at it. So does anyone know why lol?

It's only A little shut, prolly about half. I put some visine in it after his dust bath last night cause sometimes that helps to open it up

How long has his eye been like that? He might have a corneal scratch, or a small ulcer that is irritating him. A vet can put some fluorescein dye in his eye to check it all out... he might need some antibacterial eye drops.

What you can use instead of visine, is a natural GEL eye tear. Visine is not recommended for chinchillas.
I would put some before and after the dust bath and see how that works.

I personally don't like to self vet eye issues since you do not know if its a injury or a infection-both have different treatments, I would take the chin to the vet for a diagnosis and treatment.
