I have already posted once regarding this, but I have more questions so i'll continue here..
I recently got 2 chinchillas, a mother that is about 2 years old and her baby. the baby was one week old when i got them, and its been about 5 weeks since then.
I know they should be seperated if they are different genders around the 8 week mark.
I have not been able to get my hands no the right camera to post pictures on here, so I have been looking at these sites for a reference, and checking once a week...

the chin looks like a female so far.. there is no gap, and yet it says sometimes that is just the way a male looks for the first few months..
i am worried about them being in the same cage if it is a male.
so there is no gap.. but also no 'slit' like illustrated in the pictures.
would there be a slit at such a young age (about 6 weeks old)
i know pictures are my answer, ill try to get some up a.s.a.p
