Chinchilla Fur help???

Okay, so my Chinchilla TJ has lost hair on his tail, on one side, not the tip. You can see his skin, so it's a bald area. It's not red, or scaling. He's been acting normal, and eating the same. I've been researching but couldn't find much, any suggestions? I have 2 chinchillas, so is it possible that they didn't get along one night and he got fur slip?

Sounds like a fur slip to me and they can easily happen if a chinchilla is frightened. Oscar came to us with one on his tail and eventually the hair grew back. It just took a while. If you are concerned I would post a picture so that if there is anything else someone with more experience can help.

Thanks for the opinion. I hope that's all it is. I'm a little worried still, I'll probably put a picture up tomorrow now that you mentioned that.

its funny, i came here to ask the same question...we have a new chin here, cahlee isn't too fond. mustve gotten to her thru the bars of the cage when i wasn't looking. bad girl! lol
