My chinchilla delivered a kit this morning but she is still very heavy and her stomach is still bloated like there might be another in there. Any ideas on how to tell for sure?
And we picked her up and notice a red clump at her vagina that is very attached, and I am not sure if this is normal or not, last time she delivered I don't think we checked?

It sounds like she has a vaginal prolapse. It could be a big placenta that is caught there, but if she delivered this morning and she hasn't gotten all the kits out yet, it could be a real malfunction of her birth canal and she needs to go to a vet right away.

Normally if a female does not deliver all her kits and she stops having contractions, the uterus stops contracting and you can feel hard lumps that are kits or undelivered placentas. How is she acting? Have you seen any contractions in the last few hours?

Whatever you do, don't pull on that red clump because you could cause her some serious damage. I highly recommend calling the vet for an opinion and to try to make an appointment as soon as you can.

In the meantime, can you post a picture of her vaginal opening and the clump? We could probably tell you if it is a kit or a placenta or something really abnormal. It's so hard to say without being right there and being able to help.

We took her to the vet after I told then what was happening and they said to come immediately. Turns out she miscarried and when they tried to get it out manually they found out her uterus was twisted and the redness that looked like a clump was bruising and soreness from trying to deliver it while she was in labor. We have a c section scheduled for tomorrow, and the kit she had sucessfully today is strong and healthy

Thanks guys, err called the vet and they got us in immediately. She had a miscarriage and didn't deliver the second kit, when they tried to get it manually they found that her uterus was twisted. We scheduled a c section for tomorrow and the kit that she had successfully is strong and healthy. And the clump turned out to be swelling and bruising from trying to deliver the deceased kit.

New update! The vet called us yesterday because we left her there overnight and when they checked on her there was two healthy babies instead of one. I guess she just needed to have the vet scramble her around a little to get the one that was stuck moving again. They are all home now and healthy.

That is awesome! What a happy ending! Congrats on your two kits! But, you will have to post pics when you can; I'm dying to know what they look like!
