Hi everyone,
I am gonna be getting 2 females next month, it was a rare chance that this hobby breeder i know got about 10chins from chinchilla.com,
As in hong kong, all chins are pet shop chins, (My 2 boys were also from pet shop), and no reputable breeders are in sight.
It was love at first sight, devil inside me told me its a rare chance to see imported chinchillas, so yea, I caved in, a mosaic and a beige TOV will be coming home with me once the cage is made, they will be neighbors with my 2 boys!!
I am a little nervous about having boys and girls living side by side, even though my 2 boys are both neutered, I'm scared they'll still go crazy when the ladies go into heat. I asked my exotic vet, and he said there could still be a chance that the boys might react to the smell of the females....
So we'll see, keeping my fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly.

Oops, went off topic... My question was, the 2 ladies are from chinchilla.com, I wanted to ask if u guys know the breed of the chins that they sell, do they only sell ritterspach bred? Or are there also other ones?
It doesn't really bother me which breeder is comes from as long as they are healthy. Chinchilla.com are reliable sellers? Do they only sell chins from big reputable ranches?

This is all very exciting to me, never owned females, reading like I was back at school now about females... Heat... Mucous... The joy of spraying...Pyometra, uterine infection...have to Get myself prepared before they come :)

So any comments will be appreciated.

They sell animals that Jim breeds himself, but they also sell from breeders elsewhere. They are very expensive (compared to what you can buy a chin for here in the US) but they might be the only lace in the US that will ship internationally nowadays so people are willing to pay more as that is all they can get.

I agree with every thing from Tunes. Jim is among the worlds top breeders in my mind. And is one of the few willing to go through the trouble of shipping. We got on our first Ritterspach bred female a year ago and look forward to what she'll give us.

They are expensive, they are costing me about $1000 each, but but but, if they are of a good breed, I think it's worth it, the mosaic is already a chunka at only 6 months, I won't get the papers till next week I think, and my girls are not show quality so I don't get a certificate, as I have been told, that's why I wanted to ask, whether .com only sells chins from reputable breeders, ritterspach bred or not.

ANY chin is show quality. A piece of paper won't tell you that. A 2 legged, 1 eared, bob tailed, one eyed chin is "show quality." All that means is that you enter them in a show. Any and all chins can be entered in a show. Unless that piece of paper is a ribbon from the show regarding the specific chin, it means nothing anyway.

Ive purchased a few from them before as well, Gorgeous chins and much care is put into their breedings.
They are Ritterspach bred chins.
And yes, very expensive. Not sure why because I have bought great quality chins from other breeders for much less than what they charge.
You can find some lower priced ones one there and still get a decent animal though
