Chinchilla bites

Hey guys,
This is more of a question from my mom.
I just had to go get momma out her cage because she was freaking out. (she wall surfs because she hears misty, but this was bad) I was going to put her in the carrier to calm, then let her dust to be sure she was calm (normally works) and when I went to get her she bit the snot out my arm.
I don't mean a 'get away' or 'treat?' nibble..she latched on and wouldn't let go until I pulled her head off. When I finally did get her off.. She latched on again!
This shocks me because momma was just jumping into my arms and giving me nose kisses...
I didn't pick her up quick or hard, nothing that should've scared her.

My mom wants to know if they would carry anything that I would need to get the bite checked for? It's hurting pretty bad right now. >.<

Chins don't carry anything to be concerned about. Just treat the bite area like you would any wound. Use something cold for pain and swelling.

I've experienced chin bites and empathize with your pain. Chin bites really hurt.

I told my mom I doubt they do, but the family sees them as rodents (which,well, you know.) so she was worried.

I'm actually glad to read this today. I was grooming my violet this morning. The kids busted down the gate, dog gotloose scared Phoenix and grabbed onto my finger he and I are both screaming. I thought the little guy got down to the bone to be honest. Thankfully I don't think that's thecase.

Whether an animal carries bacteria in their bite or not ANY animal bite or wound can become infected. Just make sure you cleaned it well and keep it bandaged if it's deep until it closes to form a scab.

I have suffered many bites through the years, while they can be painful, and they can draw blood, they are pretty minor in comparison to some other bites out there.
