Folks, I'm wishing to know if anyone here makes art from their chinchilla photos? Of course photographs are works of art, but I would like to see how people transform photos into a different type of artwork. This thread is welcome to chinchilla caregivers and also creative people who don't have a chinchilla.

I only ask that posters remain polite when discussing other people's unique works of art. I will start by posting a photo of my chinchilla that I transformed using the rubber stamp Photoshop filter. Hope you like it!

That's very cute. There are tons of people on here who do things with chin art, some from pictures, some from scratch.

No artistic ability here

Thanks for the compliment! However, with Photoshop filters anyone can make attractive works of art. The blue picture was done by pressing a button and wala! A brand new picture.

If you can get access to Photoshop I'm sure you can create wonderful art. There are other programs that can do amazing transformations as well. Often if I take a photo that doesn't look great I will save it anyway to see if I can recycle it with image editing software.

I love that!! I have a couple of actual drawings of chins that some of my friends have done for me, and one I did for myself, but I've never taken a photo to make anything artsy out of it... yet. ;)

Maybe I should try my hand at that!

Here is a picture that my 12 year old daughter drew of our white/ebony mosaic. She loves to draw and has a whole lot more talent than her dad, that's for sure. I think if I had tried to draw one of our chinchillas it would have had to have been a stick figure.

mistywaterwoman, thanks for the praise! I assume if you try altering your drawings with image editing software you'll find it fun. It can be addictive though.

halfstache, you're daughter's chinchilla portrait is charming! Reminds me when I was a kid I loved drawing. My mom said that when I was a baby and we were watching TV I would crawl to another room and sit alone drawing pictures, so even then I loved making art.

Wow, that is excellent for her age!! She has a lot of promise as a budding artist!

My first chin art was drawn by my son's Pokemon mentor, lol, about 6 years ago. We named our first two chins after characters from Sonic, so he drew them AS the characters:

Very cool. I framed it and it is still hanging in my chin room.

My next chin art was drawn by my lovely young friend from the forums, Ellen. I know she's on here as well, but I can't remember her user name at the moment. She drew my (then) three girls with Halloween costumes, extremely accurately based on their personalities. ROFL!!

Which I also have framed and hanging in my chin room. Amy really IS a little devil, Sally is my sweet pumpkin, and Tami is such a princess!
Love them both!

Mistywaterwoman, the Pokemon chinchilla drawing is very creative and the Halloween group portrait is precious! I’m wondering how you added the pictures to the post? I only know how to attach a file.

Rockka, if you send me a photo of your chinchillas I can easily transform it to look like a painting using Photoshop (free of charge). Then you can take it to a print shop that has an IRIS printer, etc. that can print it on canvas material so it looks like a painting. That would probably be 1% the cost of having an artist paint your chinchillas. Artists that show their work in art galleries often go to specialty digital art printers to make limited-edition copies of their work on canvas or canvas paper that lasts as long as an oil painting.

Here's a digital portrait I created today.

I found some great chinchilla art on eBay recently, picked one up for my G/F and she absolutely loves it. Very cute stuff, the artist is very talented.

I'd post a link, but I'm still somewhat new here and I'm not sure if that violates policy.

Chinbutt, I doubt it would violate policy to link to artwork. I'd love to see the link! Send me a private email if you like.

chilethechin23, that's a fascinating collage!
