Hi everyone,
Currently I am looking for a new wheel. A few months ago I had to get rid of their old wheel since it would cause the bars on the side of my Critter Nation to snap. So, lately I've been feeling bad that my chinchillas have gone so long without a want to buy them a new one and I was wondering if anyone on this forum can recommend a good one. HOWEVER, I own a CritterNation cage which is notorious for having fragile bars which snap if a wheel is attached to them. So I was wondering if anybody knows of a way that I can mount my wheel/saucer without putting strain on the cage bars? If anybody can be of assistance recommending a wheel and giving advice on mounting, I would appreciate it greatly.

Afraid I can't help much, but definitely keeping an eye on this! I'm looking to get a better wheel as well and while I'd like to get a saucer, I can't go with that if its going to break my cage. I keep hearing about CN bars being super fragile and I wish I'd known that before I dropped a whole whack of money on mine! I would've waited and got a FN instead! x~x

I'm using my cn for mothers and babies so I don't have on hand knowledge. I would think though that our silver surfer is light enough not to break bars if it would hang properly. If you have a saucer already you can put a chunk of board under it so it doesn't bend down on the bars when chins jump.

The CN bars definitely brak easily, that's why I have all FN cages now.I did have a saucer mounted in my CN when I had it.After the hay rack broke a bar,I mounted a length of wood plank vertically down the back of the cage and secured it in several places to sturdy up the cage for support. Then i remounted the saucer by drilling holes through the board and using longer u hook to attach it. This took pretty much all of the stress/weight of the saucer off of the actual bars since the wood board is holding the saucer not the bars.
